The ASV 1901 Bible is a faithful English translation, known for using "Jehovah".
The American Standard Version (ASV), published in 1901, is a landmark English translation of the Bible. It is a direct revision of the King James Version (KJV), reflecting advancements in biblical scholarship and linguistic understanding of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Known for its formal equivalence approach, the ASV strives to provide a precise and accurate rendering of the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts. A distinctive feature of the ASV is its use of "Jehovah" to represent the Tetragrammaton, the divine name of God, instead of "LORD" or "GOD" in all capitals as seen in many other translations. This choice highlights its commitment to maintaining fidelity to the sacred texts. The ASV was highly regarded for its textual accuracy and became the basis for several subsequent translations, including the Revised Standard Version (RSV) and the New American Standard Bible (NASB). It holds a special place in biblical studies and remains a respected resource for those seeking a literal translation of the Scriptures. With its clear language and historical significance, the ASV continues to be a valuable tool for study, devotion, and worship. Explore this timeless translation and deepen your understanding of God’s Word with ease.
