Excellent app and support. Great information and very useful. I had an issue that the map was not moving, but the developers responded very quickly and friendly to my question and fixed the problem. Very satisfied with the whole experience. Highly recommended.

My pleasure! Glad the map fixed itself, even if the cause remains a mystery.
this app is free

Thanks, Deepti! Yes, Sky Map is free and open source, made by a community of volunteers who love the night sky. Glad you're enjoying it, and happy stargazing!
amazingly educational
Developer reply
Thank you, Stacy! Learning the sky is half the fun, and we're delighted Sky Map is lighting up your curiosity. May your nights be bright and your stargazing stellar!
Wow, it looks HORRENDOUS now. The last UI update was pretty bad, but this latest version is simply unusable. Everything is so cluttered and hard to see. Downloaded a March APK version and not going to update from here on out. One star.

Thanks for the feedback. You're welcome to stay on the older version, though you'll miss some great updates that most users are very positive about. Could you tell us what's hardest to see? If it's the yellow tip labels, they clear themselves after being shown twice. Email skymapdevs@gmail.com and we'll help.
it only shows you west no matter how many times you calibrate or uninstall and reinstall! so frustrating!!

Sorry to hear that, Samuel. Sky Map only shows what your phone's compass sensor reports, and that sensor is giving a wrong reading. This is a problem with your phone's hardware, not the app, so reinstalling can't fix it. Steps to try: ts.stardroid.app. Still wrong? Email Diagnostics (Settings → Share) to skymapdevs@gmail.com
Version 2 looks great. Thank you so much!
Developer reply
Thank you, Jonathan! We're thrilled Version 2 is hitting the mark. Clear skies and plenty of stars to you!
I'm pretty sure I've had this installed since 2009 when I bought the Motorola Droid. Just such an awesome app, thanks to everyone who has maintained it and enhanced all these years.

Thanks so much Matt! This might take you back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=em57yozCzjc (if it doesn't render - it's the Droid ad from back in the day)
didn't really use it

Thanks for the feedback, Michael. Sorry to hear Sky Map didn't get much use. If something put you off, we'd love to know what, so we can help. You can reach us at skymapdevs@gmail.com. Hope the stars bring you back someday!
It's very bad 😔😭

Sorry to hear that, Monika. If you don't explain what the issue is, we can't make it better. Please email us a description of the problem, along with what Sky Map's Diagnostics screen shows, and we'll do our best to help.
works ok most of the time but accuracy is always nuts and little bit off. most important is this sudden request for authorization for location, camera, and notification. you must give permission for all or none. not being able to select what I'm giving permission for is just another example of an app telling me they give no thought to my ownership of my phone. not understanding the issue and blaming the user in the reply didn't help.

Nevertheless, *you* misunderstood. Per the EULA: "Sky Map has no required permissions. Every permission is optional. You may refuse any and still use the app." I'm not sure it could be any clearer.
