Yoyo Yoruba is a Yorùbá toy box for small children. Fourteen hand-drawn
activities, a bird called Kókò who says every word out loud, and a quiet
dashboard for grown-ups behind a passcode.
Every Yorùbá word in the app is a real human voice - recorded, not synthesised -
with the tone marks written the way they are spoken.
WHAT IS IN THE BOX
Òní · Today - a small daily ritual to come back to.
Dárúko! · Name it! - drag a word onto its picture. 224 illustrated words.
Ìkíni and Ìbéèrè · Greetings - answer real people in four painted worlds, and
learn when a child kneels to greet an elder.
Ònkà · Numbers - one to twenty, counted aloud.
Ìtàn · Stories - sixteen illustrated tales, read to your child.
So o · Say it - your child records a word and hears themselves say it back.
Àmì Ohùn · Tones - the do-re-mi of Yorùbá, taught as a game.
Yà á! · Draw - trace the alphabet with a finger.
Se é! · Do it! - 150 everyday phrases, in three banks.
Palemo · Sort it! - tidy things into where they belong.
Àdììtú · Puzzle - jigsaws that name what they show.
Eré · Games - a memory match that speaks each pair.
Ìrìnàjò · Adventure - fourteen worlds, from the farm to the city bus.
Ebí mi · Family - flashcards of your own family, from your own photos.
Plus a sticker album that fills up as your child plays.
MADE FOR HOW SMALL CHILDREN PLAY
No reading required - every label can be tapped and heard.
No menus to get lost in - one screen of pictures, and a back arrow.
English is optional. Switch it off and the app is Yorùbá alone. Or read the
labels in Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish or French instead.
FOR GROWN-UPS
Behind a three-digit passcode:
· A daily time limit, from ten minutes to an hour.
· What your child actually knows - mastery by activity, words learned, stars
and cards won, and a day streak.
· Play time over the last seven days.
· Their name, and whether the adventure hero is a boy or a girl.
· Switch any activity off to hide it from the home screen.
· Sounds and music on or off; choose how much is spoken aloud.
PRIVACY
No adverts. No third-party trackers or analytics. No account to create, and no
sign-in. Your child's recordings and your family photos stay on the device and
are never uploaded. The app works offline - the only time it reaches the
internet is to check a purchase.
