oh man, I used to really love this app a few years ago. I've gotten kind of rusty so I came back to it to find out you have to pay for it monthly now. Incredibly disappointing. Will sadly no longer be using it. I'll say that it IS great way to wrap your head around Kana for a beginner, but not worth a monthly subscription.
This is what taught me hiragana and katakana the best!!!!
The new update is horrible, a great app ruined.
fun to learn🥰
No option,is PEAK🔥
if i'd get asked on what helped me stay motivated when learning japanese, i'd show them this app!
New update added kanji from the JLPT. But that is a useless addition unless you pay the absurd subscription fee, since you can only review 10 (!) words a day and only learn 3 new ones. So you'll never get through the JLPT words anyways. The fees are just way too high to even consider it. Maybe if it was a one-time purchase like it used to be. Maybe the App might still be a little useful if you could at least review ALL hira&katakana in one day, but alas: App destroyed.

The ads already in the middle of the app after just 1 letter... and no close button for the ad. Definitely disruptive.

“I think that would help me a lot and could be a nice addition for all the languages.”
“One suggestion I have would be to have an option to use Hiragana to represent the sounds instead of Romaji when practicing Katakana.”
A drop after an update usually means the update broke something.
