First release. Set up fences on a map instead of typing coordinates, boundary crossings are more reliable, and the app is available in 12 languages. This is a new app rather than an update. If you used the old Geofence Detection plugin, your fences and the Tasker profiles that point at it do not carry over. You will need to draw the fences again and re-point those profiles.
Tasker plugin: trigger profiles when you enter, leave, or linger in a place.
Geofence Detection is a condition plugin for Tasker. It watches places you draw on a map and reports crossings back to Tasker so your profiles can act on them. Three conditions: • Enter — your device crosses into the fence • Exit — it leaves • Dwell — it has stayed inside for a period you choose Set each fence up on a map: drop the point, drag the radius, name it. Dwell time and radius are yours to tune, so a fence around the office does not fire every time you pass the building on the bus. Every condition takes a delay for the same reason. People use it to silence the phone at work, turn the thermostat up on the way home, log hours at a job site, or flip Wi-Fi and Bluetooth by neighborhood. You'll need Tasker, sold separately. This app does nothing on its own. It adds conditions inside Tasker. PERMISSIONS This app uses background location. A Tasker profile has to fire whether or not you are looking at your phone, so Android has to deliver boundary crossings while the app is closed. That is the only thing background location is used for. Without it the plugin registers no fences at all rather than half-working. Android's own geofencing service does the monitoring, on your device. PRIVACY The places you set never leave your device. No location history is kept, and no coordinate is ever transmitted to us. The app sends anonymous usage and crash data to help fix bugs, along with an approximate region derived from your IP address. It never includes coordinates or fence names, and you can turn it off in the app.
