Extract burned-in subtitles from videos and copy text from photos or screenshots
Turn the captions you see in a video into subtitle files, and reuse words from pictures without typing them again. iExtract combines a video subtitle extractor with an image to text tool. Recover burned-in captions as timed SRT or VTT files, or extract text from images to copy, review and save as TXT. Text recognition runs on your phone. EXTRACT SUBTITLES FROM VIDEO Have a video with subtitles on screen but no separate subtitle file? iExtract reads burned-in or hardcoded subtitles directly from the video frames. Recover the visible words for use in a video player or editor. Drag and resize the subtitle area to focus on the captions. Check their position in the video preview, choose a writing system, then select your subtitle format and scan speed. IMAGE TO TEXT: PHOTOS AND SCREENSHOTS Open Images to copy text from a picture saved on your phone. Choose a photo of clear printed text, such as a page, sign or note, or select a screenshot using Android's image picker. Select the writing system that matches the source and let iExtract read it on your device. Review and correct the recognized words, copy the text to your clipboard, or save a .txt file in a location you choose. Close and clear removes the temporary result from the app's current view. Copies and saved files remain wherever you put them. SRT, VTT AND TXT OUTPUT Video extraction creates timed SubRip (.srt) or WebVTT (.vtt) subtitle files. Repeated readings are combined into subtitle cues. Video exports appear in your subtitle library and are saved to Download/IEXTRACT, ready to open or share. Image text extraction gives you plain text to copy or save as .txt. A still image does not generate timed subtitle cues. ONE VIDEO OR A BATCH Prepare one video or a batch of up to 20 videos. Your subtitle area, writing system, output format and speed settings apply across the batch. Videos with captions in a similar position work best together. CHOOSE A WRITING SYSTEM Select from Latin, Arabic, Chinese/Japanese, Devanagari, Korean, Cyrillic, Bengali and Thai script groups. Arabic-script options cover Arabic and Persian/Farsi; Devanagari includes languages such as Hindi. Choose the group that matches the source for both videos and photos. PROCESS ON YOUR PHONE Images and video frames are processed on your device rather than uploaded for text recognition. No account is needed. Video extraction can continue in the background with a progress notification. iExtract contains ads, which use an internet connection. GET CLEARER RESULTS Use clear printed text, good contrast and a close subtitle region. Normal, Fast and Super Fast scan presets let you choose a sampling rate; faster sampling can miss brief captions. Recognition quality depends on text size, image clarity, motion and the source. Review the output before using it. The text-reading technology is called optical character recognition (OCR). It reads visible words rather than transcribing speech, translating text or extracting selectable subtitle tracks. Video playback and extraction depend on your device's codec support.
