Snowflakes from live weather
Tap the screen and watch a hexagonal cellular automaton grow a breathtaking, six-fold symmetric crystal in real time. Weather data is pulled live from snowy cities around the world — and every crystal takes its shape from the snow falling somewhere on Earth right now. Temperature →Complexity — The colder the place, the more intricate the branching Humidity → Density — Higher humidity spreads side branches more densely Wind → Variation — Stronger winds create irregular, one-of-a-kind forms Pressure → Ripple patterns — Lower pressure introduces ring-like modulations No two crystals are ever the same. Nature decides the shape. The algorithm draws it. The city whose weather inspired each crystal is shown on screen — and you can always find it on a map.
