Paperingo is a writing assistant for academic work: a term paper, a thesis, a dissertation or an article. You write the paper, and Paperingo works with you. It structures the paper, drafts and revises passages from your notes and sources, finds published works to cite, compares quotations with a source's text when that text is on file, counts the length the way your course counts it, and produces a typeset PDF with footnotes, figures and a bibliography in your citation style. A source is added by its DOI, ISBN, arXiv or PubMed ID, from a search of published research, or as an entry typed from a work you have. Paperingo cites only sources on that list, so a citation to anything else cannot appear in the PDF, and an entry typed by hand is marked as unverified. Before Paperingo reports the paper done, these checks run: • The paper compiles: every edit goes through the typesetter, and an edit that fails, such as one with a missing figure or a citation to a source not on file, is refused • Quotations and length: a quotation is compared with its source's text when that text is on file, the length is counted in your course's unit, and the page count is compared with your limit • The PDF reads correctly: its text is extracted and compared with what was written In the app you see the outline with each heading and its page, the page itself, and the conversation beside it. Select a sentence, or tap a figure or a table, to ask about it. Open any file and edit it yourself; every version is kept.
