App blocker you open with brain games. Win rounds, earn time on your apps
Read full description
Screen Time Machine is an app blocker you open with brain games. The apps you pick stay locked. Win a few rounds of a quick memory, math or word game, and you earn time on them.
Willpower runs out. A locked app that asks you to think first works better than a reminder you swipe away.
HOW IT WORKS
Pick the apps that eat your day. They stay locked until you open them.
Play a run: ten rounds of one game. Every round you win pays one dot.
Spend dots to open your apps. One dot is 30 seconds: 1 minute costs 2 dots, 5 minutes costs 10, 15 minutes costs 30.
When the time runs out, the apps lock again on their own.
SIX BRAIN GAMES
Grid memory: cells light up, tap them back.
Simon: pads light up in a sequence, repeat it.
Mental math: solve the sum, pick the answer out of four.
Anagram: spell the word from its scrambled letters.
Path memory: a route lights up across the grid, trace it back.
Pairs: see every card, then find the matching pairs from memory.
ONE NUMBER: YOUR ELO
Win a round and your Elo climbs. Lose one and it slips. Ten levels open as it rises, from easy to hard. Every level pays the same dots, so play the one that feels right.
DOTS YOU KEEP
Dots never expire. Time you buy stacks on top of time still running. Quit a run halfway and you still keep every dot you won.
WHEN YOU OPEN A LOCKED APP
A lock screen covers it, with a Play button that starts a game right there.
WHAT PEOPLE USE IT FOR
Cutting down on doomscrolling. Keeping social media locked while working or studying. A short brain workout before the next scroll. A digital detox that doesn't mean deleting the apps you like. Screen time control for an adult who wants it for themselves, not a parental control.
FREE AND PRO
Free locks 3 apps, with every game and every level. Pro lets you lock as many apps as you want, for $3.99 a month or $29.99 once. Playing is always free, and dots are never for sale. No account. No ads.
WHAT LEAVES YOUR PHONE
Your locked apps, dots and Elo stay on your device. The app sends anonymous usage analytics so we can see which features get used, and purchases go through our payments provider. Nothing you type, and nothing you do inside other apps, is part of either.
WHY IT NEEDS THE ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE
Screen Time Machine uses the Accessibility Service to see which app just opened. It's the only way an app can know that, and it's what makes locking possible. The app that opened is checked against your list, then forgotten. It doesn't read what's on your screen, doesn't log what you type, and sends nothing it sees off your phone.
