The whole game is redrawn in 3D: a diorama of the valley with real lighting, shadows and flames, and a camera you can turn. Act 2 grows to five chapters: the pump station goes dry, and the radio goes dark. Engines now park clear of the flames before they spray, and a Spray / Drive switch lets you just move one. Tap a unit to see where it can go (green) and can't (red). A dozer's line turns red where it can't cut. Chapter 1 gives you a forest engine that drives off road.
Command crews, engines and aircraft against a wildfire. Hold the line.
You're the new Incident Commander in Pine Hollow, in the worst drought in sixty years, and someone is setting the fires. Read the wind, send your people, make the hard calls on the radio, and hold until evening, when the fire lies down. A FIRE THAT BEHAVES LIKE THE REAL THING • Wind and slope decide where it runs. It races uphill and downwind, and creeps back into the wind. • Grass flashes fast and a scraped line holds it. Timber burns hot and throws embers into spot fires ahead of you. • Wind shifts, flare-ups, chimney runs and ember storms change the fight halfway through. YOUR CREW, YOUR CALL • Drag a line and a hand crew scrapes a firebreak. Select every crew at once and they split it between them. • Engines spray from the road and refill at the hydrant or a lake. The dozer cuts a wide line fast, even through timber, but it's slow to move and can't climb steep ground. • Helicopters, smokejumpers and air tankers when the fire gets serious. • Burn out from your line, prep a house with sprinklers, and get your crews out when the fire cuts off their escape route. • Radio calls slow the fire for twelve seconds while you choose. Every answer costs something now and changes the next chapter. A STORY ACROSS THE SEASON • Act 1, First Call: three chapters, free. A grass fire on your first afternoon, a ridge run toward the school, and a red flag day before the Fourth of July. • Act 2, The Matchmaker: a night fire at a summer camp, a sabotaged helibase, and three fires at once. Available as a one-time purchase, or with the Season Pass, which also includes every later act and the whole Free Play arsenal at no extra cost. • Walk your crews to each fire's point of origin to build the Case File, and find out who is lighting them. KEEP PLAYING • The Daily Fire: a new fire every day, the same for everyone. • Free Play: a random valley every time, free with hand crews, engines and a helicopter. The Season Pass brings brush engines, dozers, hotshots, smokejumpers, a heavy helicopter and air tankers, and the valleys get tougher as your crews rank up. • Crews, engines and aircraft rank up as they work, and the Station turns your best scores into upgrades. • Easy, Normal and Hard, and half speed when you want time to think.
