Do not try to swallow a chapter: memorize scripture one verse at a time, the way verse memory actually sticks. ■ One verse at a time Whole chapters intimidate. Single verses invite. Lectio breaks bible memorization into cards you can hold in your head, a practice that starts small and compounds. Each lesson introduces two verses, and after three lessons a unit checkpoint reviews all six verses in that unit. Each unit holds six verses, 60 in total. ■ Seven exercises that remove support step by step Practice starts easy and moves toward full recall. • Read: read the verse first. • Fill in the blanks: pick the missing words from a word bank. • Put it in order: arrange the pieces of the verse. • First letters: write the verse from first-letter cues. • Where is it written: pick the right reference for a bible verse. • Which verse is it: match a reference to its text. • Write from memory: type the whole verse with no cues. Blanks grow from one to three, and first-letter cues spread from half the words to all of them. The card gradually hides words until the verse lives in memory, not on the screen. ■ Reviews that come back on schedule Memorized verses are scheduled with a spaced repetition algorithm (FSRS), and a Daily review card at the head of your path shows how many verses are due. A verse you miss returns ten minutes later, and missed exercises repeat at the end of the session. Each unit shows a Memory gauge. ■ A record of every verse Every bible verse you have memorized is kept in your record, next to your daily streak. You can set a streak reminder for the hour you choose. ■ Lamps A wrong answer puts out one lamp. You have five, and they refill four hours after they run out. ■ Read the Bible and take a quiz Lectio also includes all 66 books of the Bible to read chapter by chapter. The text is the public domain World English Bible, with the Reina-Valera 1909 text when you choose Spanish.
