• New icon and a brighter, refreshed look • Cleaner, more consistent screens throughout the app
Check a room for hidden cameras, step by step, with honest limits. No ads.
Sweepnook helps you check a hotel room, a rental, a restroom or a fitting room for hidden cameras. It walks you through five checks in order, and for each one it tells you plainly what that check can find and what it cannot. No app can promise that a room has no camera. Sweepnook does not pretend to. It shows you what was checked, what was not, and what to look at next. Every feature is included. No ads, no account, no subscription. QUICK CHECK, ABOUT 6 MINUTES • Pick where you are: hotel, rental home, restroom, fitting room or car • Follow five steps one after another, or skip the ones you cannot do • Finish with a summary that separates "checked" from "not checked" 1. DEVICES ON THE WI-FI • Lists the devices on the Wi-Fi you joined • Marks a device only when it answers like a camera: the standard camera discovery request, a video stream server, or a device description that names a camera product • Shows the reason for every mark, so you know what to look for in the room • Tells you when the network hides devices from each other, as many hotel and guest networks do • Cannot find: cameras that record only to a memory card, use mobile data, or sit on another network 2. NEARBY WIRELESS SIGNALS • Listens for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth names that match camera products, such as cameras waiting to be set up • It only listens. It never connects to anything • Cannot find: devices that hide their name or use an ordinary one 3. INFRARED LIGHTS • Night-vision cameras light a dark room with infrared. Many phone cameras can see it • First test your phone with a TV remote, so you know whether your camera can see infrared at all • Bright points are marked on the screen for you to check with your own eyes • Cannot find: cameras with no infrared lights, which includes most tiny pinhole cameras 4. LENS REFLECTIONS • A lens throws your flashlight straight back as a small sharp glint • The flashlight blinks slowly and the app marks points that are bright only while it is on • Marks are reflections, not confirmed lenses. Glass, metal and water drops glint too 5. PLACES TO LOOK • A checklist of where cameras are usually hidden, for each kind of place • Smoke detectors, clocks, chargers, outlets, vents, mirrors and more ALSO INCLUDED • Magnetic sensor as a side tool. It reacts to magnets, speakers and steel, not to cameras, and the app says so • What to do if you find a camera: do not touch it, record it, leave, and call the police • History of your checks, kept on your phone YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR PHONE • No account and no analytics • Scan results and history are stored only on this device • The camera view is never saved or sent • The internet permission is used only to talk to devices on your local network PERMISSIONS • Location: Android shows nearby Wi-Fi names only to apps with this permission. Sweepnook does not read or store your location • Nearby devices (Bluetooth): to hear the names nearby devices broadcast • Camera: for the live view in the infrared and lens checks Each one is asked for only when you open the check that needs it, and the other checks work without it. GOOD TO KNOW • The Wi-Fi check only looks at the network you are connected to and only asks devices to identify themselves. It never tries passwords and never opens a video stream • Results depend on the room, the network and your phone's sensors.
