Estimate overtime pay from daily hours with U.S. federal and California rules
Read full description
OvertimePayCalc estimates what a week or pay period of hourly work pays, including overtime and double time, so you can check your paycheck before payday.
Two ways to calculate
• Quick mode: enter your hourly rate and your regular, overtime and double-time hours
• Timesheet mode: enter the hours you worked each day and let the app split them into regular, overtime and double-time hours
Overtime rules
• U.S. federal: overtime over 40 hours in a workweek
• California: daily overtime over 8 hours, double time over 12, the seventh consecutive day, and weekly overtime over 40
• 8 and 80: hospital and residential care employers using a 14-day period
More of what you need
• Weekly, biweekly or semi-monthly pay periods, with overtime always figured per workweek
• Add a non-discretionary bonus and see how it raises your regular rate and overtime pay, including the California flat-sum bonus method
• Set your own overtime and double-time multipliers from 1.0x to 5.0x
• See regular pay, extra pay, effective hourly rate and total hours at a glance
• Copy the result summary to keep with your records
• Start from quick presets: standard overtime, busy week, holiday or straight time
• Save named scenarios with notes for different jobs or schedules
Results are estimates for general information, not legal advice. Exemptions, alternative workweek schedules, union or contract terms and local rules are not included, so confirm your pay with your employer or your labor agency.
