a week and half in LT dropped! training load dropped... So far it has given me no explanation for the sessions, why they change. it hasnt even completed all of it's measurements so i feel like I am just running a generic set of runs. finally I think it is totally thrown by the fact I live in a hilly place. If there is high heart rate on a long run the ai thinks you are fatigued so cuts the next one. Asked questions and never recieved a response! had to sadly delete after being hopeful.

Hi! TAO calibrates from day 1 using your full history. Garmin uses rigid templates, while TAO targets minimum effective dose and personalised polarisation — which Garmin can flag as maintaining or unproductive. I like many things except the fact that it just ignores my preferences in terms of heart rate training. They explain in the website why it's not good, but I want it, I run on uneven terrain, with camber, climbs and descends so keeping or reaching certain paces leads to injury, heart rate is a much better proxy. Edit: no, my preferences are set to heart rate, not a single HR based workout has been scheduled ever in the months I've been a paying customer.

Hi! TrainAsONE fully supports HR-based training for those that wish to do so — when you understand the limitations, it has a place. Additionally, the heart rates in TAO are more advanced and configurable than any other platform. Please reach out in-app, as we'd love to assist you further.

Short runs can be frustrating. However, sports science shows that up to 80% of running injuries are caused by training errors, such as increasing volume too quickly. TrainAsONE's AI is designed to protect you by prescribing shorter runs to safely build structural resilience when starting out, or returning from a break. Please see our FAQs for more.

Sounds great in theory, but the app optimises for injury avoidance and maintenance, not performance. Even after selecting “get faster,” it kept me at ~2–2.5h/week and scheduled 10–12 min runs unless I manually changed settings. If you slightly overrun a session, it delays your next run as a “load spike.” If you understand training basics, build your own plan. If you want structured progression, Runna worked far better for me.

Thank you for the feedback. While TAO prioritises injury prevention, it is built for performance — as evidenced by the many PBs and podiums our users achieve on efficient volume. What may seem like a 'delayed' run is the AI reacting to your specific physiological data to ensure long-term gains. We are working on better "explainability" for 2026!
Exceptional!! My running has improve so much. and the Developer is so responsive to questions asked in App. I highly recommend this app to anyone. I use it to train for both marathons and ultra marathons. I took 12 minutes off my marathon time in 6 months. It is so easy to use and customize.

I found this app unconvincing. My garmin estimates over 4 key distances deteriorated with lots of very short workouts during the trial, and another 6weeks of short workouts ahead of me despite installing this app off the back of slowish 2:10 half marathon. The trial flew by before i had really familiarised myself with the customisations. The "free" variation of the app is so limited as to be unworthy of anyone's time IMHO except maybe the c25k crowd. Customisation options are actually very good!

We are sorry the app was unconvincing. Garmin metrics are not gospel, and need interpretation in relation to training state. Short runs are part of the AI's dynamic planning to ensure efficient and effective low-risk training. In comparison to our competitors, our 3-week trial is generous. We appreciate your positive comments on customisation.
I used the free version as my marathon training plan. I ditched it with 4 weeks out because I felt that I wouldn't be ready for the race (this was my 13th marathon). I read that the paid version offers different levels of training - where you can increase the risk tolerance. If I used this app again, I would pay for the app. The workouts were fun, and the app was easy to use. It worked seamlessly with my Garmin watch.

Thank you for sharing your experience and views. Please look into using TrainAsONE again in the future, and when you do please get in contact to discuss any feeling of being underpepared. TrainAsONE plans are based on data, rather than cookie-cutter common wisdom and myth and so can be atypical, but get results - they are "efficient and effective".
I think they've nailed it!!! I used this app years ago and thought it was pushing me a little aggressively, like 3 ten mile runs consecutively for my half marathon training I've since come back and the last four wks have been spot on. I've never seen this much improvement in that short a span I know they've upgraded the AI system to Artemis and I have to say it has made all the difference. I set my app to run 7 d/wk and it gives me just the right mix of recovery/pace work/interval training.
