Invisible text, unable to register over any connection, blank screen when trying to photograph anything. thanks for the useless app, I'm trying to document lingering ash trees on my land and nothing's working right with this app. I'm having all of the problems that a commenter had in 2022,SMH

important information for important work

I love the idea of this app, and when it works it is great. There is an issue that caused the app to lock-up just before uploading observations. When this happened, the only option was to leave the app, lose photos and data, and start over. I was thoughtfully informed by a Treesnap development team member that improvements are being made to address this issue. As of 9/4/25, the App still locks after data is entered without wifi. Closing the app deletes all saved data.

Amazing way to help the trees of this world

I love the mission of this app but it has two critical issues. The first is the lack of support for dark mode. On a device that is utilizing dark mode the white text is not visible on the white background. The other issue is the inability to add photos from the gallery. Until those issues are fixed I'll stick to iNaturalist. Edited to add: all modern phones include GPS data within the embedded metadata of the photo meaning geotagged batch uploads from the gallery are feasible.

Dark mode is on our todo list. Treesnap intentionally only allows users to upload photos taken within the app to ensure that we can also collect GPS data for each tree. As such, Treesnap lets you complete a survey and take photos without an internet connection. There will be an “Upload” button to send the data when you return to internet access.

Great app for threatened species surveys and field data collection with excellent backend scientist support. Being able to refer back to my collection photos has been irreplaceable. Last year, I was able to request several species be added to support my research, and support staff have also been helpful in addressing my bug reports via their GitHub in a timely manner. Also, A+ for the offline option to upload entries later!

Treesnap has worked very well for me. I went into a forest, completed a few of the app's surveys (you can use the app without having an internet connection! this makes sense to me, because you need to press the capture GPS button while physically at the tree), and uploaded my data later once I had cellular service again. It seems a lot of other reviewers don't realize the app works perfectly well WITHOUT internet - in fact, that seems to be the intended usage.

Can't register. And all text is white on white background. Ie: when you type you see the cursor moving. When you put in a circumference number and click calculate it accurately tells you the diameter. But you can't see anything while you type. This is abandonware I think. Active development seems to have stopped, as issues that people complained about years ago still exist.

I am unable to create an account. I fill out the form, attempt to submit it and it tells me I am not connected to the internet (I am connected).
