Match hatches before you cast
HatchTrue Fly Match is a premium offline-first hatch-matching workshop. Walk to the river already knowing which insect is hatching, which artificial imitates it, and how to present it—without a guide whispering in your ear. Built for river beginners, fly-shop mentees, university outing clubs, and scout mentors who must name the insect on the water and pick a matching fly before they false-cast. The core loop is simple: identify the hatch, match the silhouette, choose the presentation. HATCH ATLAS Study 36 aquatic and terrestrial insects—mayfly dun and spinner, caddis, stonefly, midge, beetle, and hopper—as illustrated specimen cards. Each card shows size, water type, and a side-view silhouette so you can recognize what is actually on the water. FLY PATTERN LIBRARY Forty classic patterns with hook-size range, materials, and when-it-matches notes, stored on your device. The library works on the river with no signal. MATCH-THE-HATCH DRILLS A river scene appears. Pick the insect order, then a matching artificial. Immediate why-wrong coaching explains the miss so the next choice is sharper. SILHOUETTE QUIZ Dun vs spinner vs emerger vs nymph vs larva, in timed or study mode. Learn profiles, not just names. PRESENTATION COACH Dead-drift, swing, skate, and indicator choices, with failure-mode copy that shows what goes wrong when the fly is right but the drift is not. LEADER AND TIPPET BENCH Computes 7.5, 9, and 12-ft formulas and tippet versus hook size as a result card. This is a bench, not a trip log. WATER-READING PRIMER Tap-hotspot diagrams for riffle, seam, tailout, and eddy holding lies so you know where to stand once the fly is chosen. ON THE BANK Four-tab navigation plus detail sheets for Hatch, Flies, Drills, Leader, insect detail, fly detail, challenge, and results. Glance widget for Specimen of the Day. Optional micro-drill notifications. Skill-path badges and drill scores saved on device. TalkBack-labeled cards and large type. HatchTrue Fly Match is not a catch diary, not a fishing log, not a shop, and not a map editor. Finish the workshop, then false-cast.
