Larkwell is a voice range finder that measures your vocal range in about a minute and tells you your voice type: bass, baritone, tenor, alto, mezzo-soprano or soprano. Then a playful pitch trainer helps you hit every note. A VOICE RANGE TEST YOU CAN TRUST Many vocal range test apps jump an octave or count a shout as your highest note. Larkwell uses a proven pitch detection method (YIN with smoothing over time, as in pYIN) that runs entirely on your phone. A note only counts when you hold it cleanly for half a second. Shouting, whispering, croaking or a single wrong reading never becomes your result. In our tests with real recorded singing, held notes were never placed in the wrong octave. HOW THE VOICE RANGE TEST WORKS 1. Hum a comfortable note. 2. Slide down to your lowest note and hold it. 3. Slide up to your highest note and hold it. A ring fills while you hold a note, markers show your lowest and highest so far, and clear hints tell you if you are too loud or too rough. YOUR RESULT • Your voice type with an honest note when you sit between two types • Your range from lowest to highest note, in octaves and semitones • A comparison bar with all six voice types and your own range • Listen to your lowest and highest note • A beautiful result card to share: “Baritone · E2–A4 · 2.0 octaves”. Who has the bigger range? Every number has a “Why?” with sources. PITCH TRAINER: LARK FLIGHT Your voice steers a lark through the notes. Hit them to score, keep a streak to multiply your points, and beat your own best scores. The notes are chosen from your own training zone, so you practise where your voice is healthy. Arrows show whether to sing higher or lower, and a soft guide tone can play each note first. PROGRESS Retest every few weeks and see your vocal range grow as a curve, plus your pitch accuracy week by week and a before/after card.
