If you set the threshold to beep below a level, the hint and the sound switch in settings now say so instead of describing the opposite.
Light meter in lux: check the light on your desk against lighting standards.
Find out how much light falls on your desk or a windowsill. Lay the phone face up and the lux meter shows the light level in lux (lx), with an everyday comparison below it. The number is large enough to read at arm's length. A live chart shows whether the light is rising or falling while you move a lamp or open the curtains, and the minimum, average and maximum are counted over the whole session. Lighting standards are built in. Open the list and compare your reading with the recommended illuminance for an office desk (500 lx), a classroom (300 lx), technical drawing (750 lx), a corridor (100 lx) or a living room (150 lx). Every row names its source: EN 12464-1:2021 for work and study, the Russian building code SP 52.13330.2016 for rooms at home. What people check with this light meter: • whether a desk or a home office has enough light for reading and screen work • which of two lamps or bulbs puts more light on the table • how much daylight reaches a room or a windowsill with houseplants • a corridor, stairs or a stock room after new lamps were fitted In the app: • Light level in lux on a dial, with a one-word label: dark below 100 lx, dim up to 500 lx, bright above. • An everyday comparison: night outdoors 1 lx, a living room in the evening 100 lx, a workplace 500 lx, an overcast day 2,000 lx, direct sun 20,000 lx. The app tells you which one your reading is close to. • A threshold with a beep when the light rises above or drops below the level you set. • Sound follows the light: the clicks speed up as it gets brighter, so you can follow it without looking at the screen. • Hold freezes the number and Reset starts the session again. • Record a session: the chart, minimum, average and maximum, date, time and duration. Up to twenty saved sessions are free. • Share the current reading as text, with minimum, average, maximum and duration. • A home screen widget with the last reading. • The range and step of your own phone's light sensor, so a reading stuck at the top of the scale is not taken for a fault. A one-time purchase, with no subscription, adds a full report for each saved session (time, minimum, average, maximum and duration, sent as text) and keeps the latest fifty sessions instead of twenty. The reading, the chart, the lighting standards, the threshold with sound, sharing a reading and twenty saved sessions stay free. Good to know The ambient light sensor sits next to the front camera and measures the light falling on the screen. Point the screen at the source and keep your own shadow off it. The accuracy is domestic: fine for checking a workplace, not for photometry. An independent laboratory found deviations of up to 113% against a class A meter, and the app shows that figure with its source. Use the lux meter to compare places and lamps and to see the order of magnitude. An official inspection needs a calibrated instrument. As a camera light meter it is no help: there is no EV, aperture or shutter speed. It does not show PPFD for grow lights either, only lux. If your phone has no light sensor, the app says so and shows no number. Measuring works without internet, and there is no advertising in the app. It sends anonymous usage statistics; you can turn this off in settings. Independent development: one person builds and maintains this app. A letter to support@markarov.dev is read by that person, not by a support desk.
