Good concept. I wish 1) we could give a colour to a note (à la Keep), and 2) that all the pro features and settings were just hidden when inactive instead of taking space.

It is very handy that Git integration is baked into the app. This makes it easy to install and link with a Git repository. Unfortunately the text editing experience is not great at all. Opening a document containing more than a few pages makes it frustratingly slow. When searching for a keyword, the search bar indicates the number of matches found, but the arrows don't jump to the found results. This makes the app unusable. In contrast, Obsidian combined with GitSync is a great experience.
A cool niche app to save markdown notes in a git repository, or even post to a Jekyll blog. Writing markdown and attaching images works really well. I was just confused that some things were locked behind a 30$/year paywall but it doesn't say anywhere what all pro features even are. Works well out of the box but customization can feel a bit clunky -little control over what gets pushed, or git commands generally -custom .md metadata locked behind pro, but plaintext editor could edit it anyway
I'm writing a book. Suddenly the document I'm writing is empty. All work since last push gone. Upstream still shows some old content, GitJournal only shows an empty document.

Oh boy. The 1 star is definitely warranted. I'm really sorry. GitJournal really should save notes in some kind of swp file so that these kinds of things don't occur. I understand you must be quite frustrated. I'll let you know when it's done, if you're willing to give GitJournal another chance.
Does not allow me to store my repositories outside the app.
Buggy. shame because just a few bugs ruin the beautifully minimal user experience. Keyboard disappears when it shouldn't, impossible to place the cursor without selecting to the end. On the other hand it has a great synchronization with a git repository which was why I chose this app. This feature works very well. The UX is broken 💔. The app hasn't had updates for 8 months now.
files are getting deleted. if I write something in new note, but if I don't click on save button. it won't get saved. it should have auto save feature. for some reason if open existing notes, sometimes it is getting deleted. I don't know the reason yet. deleting is something should be done only if user confirms.

too many bugs
might work in some cases but not safe to use git repo with other devices, it silently loses data by dropping your changes and not merging. would not recommend
I use this app for notes of all kinds from lists to creative projects and, of course, a journal. I back up all my markdown documents to my own git server. I'm planning to migrate all my old keep notes over to this to enjoy even more data sovereignty.

A drop after an update usually means the update broke something.
