Learn Korean Hanja from grade 8 to 1: quizzes, idioms and stroke order.
Learn Hanja, the Chinese characters used in Korean, one short round at a time.
NOTE: All questions are in KOREAN. The menus support English, but every reading, meaning and explanation is written in Korean. This app is for people who read Korean, including Korean learners who want to study Hanja.
■ Learn a new character, then play
Each round opens with a new character card: brush-style stroke order animation, Korean meaning and sound, radical, stroke count and example words.
Trace it yourself with [Try writing], then tap [Start questions].
A round starts with 3 questions and grows to 4 and 5 as you level up. Answer them all to clear the round and level up.
■ More than multiple choice
· Pick the character for a meaning and sound
· Read Hanja words in Korean
· Build words by placing character tiles
· Four-character idioms: fill the blank, put them in order, pick the meaning
· Radicals, stroke counts and characters with the same sound
· Write from memory, stroke by stroke
· Stroke order: which number is the red stroke?
New question types unlock as you level up.
■ Grade exams and seals
Grades go from 8 (easiest) to 1. The last round of each grade is an exam: get 8 of 10 right to pass and earn a red grade seal.
Failed? Retake it for free.
Grades are this app's own levels, combined from several Hanja tests. They are not linked to any official certification.
■ Idiom of the day
One four-character idiom every day, with a card and 3 questions. Everyone gets the same idiom on the same day.
■ Hanja collection and mistake notes
Every character you learn is saved by grade. Tap one to see its stroke order and example words again.
Missed questions are kept in your mistake notes.
■ One wrong answer is not the end
See the answer and explanation, then continue with stars or by watching an ad.
Stuck? Use a tool: remove two wrong choices, open a tile, or show the first stroke.
There is no time limit.
■ Weekly rankings and the Hall of Fame
Correct answers earn weekly points. Rankings reset every week, and the top 3 go into the Hall of Fame.
You can join the rankings without signing in. Sign in with Play Games to keep your progress on a new device.
■ Grow your scholar avatar
Your Joseon scholar avatar grows as you clear rounds, with ever more splendid clothes and stages.
■ Ads and purchases
All questions are free to play. An ad may appear when you finish a round.
