It has no peer in the playstore. Refreshingly fair-priced. Bug free, ad free. And I have been wasting time for months (probably years) trying to find such a basic app, among the rubbish bin of the Google playstore. His choice of the Kokoro voices is spot on.

Thank you so much for your amazing review! It means a lot to hear that Lectern is exactly what you've been looking for. I'm especially glad you're enjoying the Kokoro voices. Reviews like yours motivate me to keep improving the app. Thank you for your support! Best regards, Joshua – Lectern Developer

This is the only app so far (2026) I've found with support for Kokoro and does not pause between sentences like MoonReader and alike. The PDF support is better than MoonReader, with proper handling of hyphenated words. You guys have made the near-perfect app for modern day book listening. (I wish I could view the original PDF when listening back).

Developer reply

Thank you, Peter, for your kind words and 5-star review! Could you email info@lecternreader.app to clarify whether you mean PDF text-to-speech or a separate audio track? Keeping TTS in sync with the original PDF pages is challenging, but I’d like to take another look. Best regards, Joshua

the app look solid. my only suggestion is to allow users to import there own audio files not necessarily synchronisation is needed just open pdf side by side audio and be able to control both Edit: Found the option. A little hidden🙃 Edit2: Please add dictionary kind of think select a word instantly find its meaning Edit3: found it. very awesome app

Developer reply

Thank you for your review and feedback! I’m glad you found the audio file option. A dictionary feature is also available for eBooks and PDFs in reflow mode. Just long-press a word in the text to select it, then choose the dictionary option to look up its meaning. Thanks again for using Lectern and sharing your suggestions! Joshua

Developer reply

Thank you for your feedback! Lectern already supports Google TTS and other TTS engines installed on your device. I'm not entirely sure what issue you're experiencing. Could you please email me at info@lecternreader.app with some more details? I'd be happy to look into it. Kind regards, Joshua

Amazing. I have been using speech central for ages. I have only just started using the app and it's awesome. I can see myself using this every day with all the extra features like daily tracking. even something as simple as just reading the book is good and being able to switch it to audio instantly is amazing. Well done. If I could have one extra feature it would be a pronounce adjustment setting for the audio were i could set how I want a word to sound.

Developer reply

Thank you so much for the 5-star review! I’m really glad you’re enjoying Lectern. Customizing the pronunciation of specific words is a great idea and is already on my backlog for a future update. Thanks for your feedback and support! Joshua Lectern Developer

Great app! I wish I could highlight more than 1 paragraph at a time though. Also it would be great if I could export the highlights.
