lol. nice update. charging you 0.99C A MONTH TO SAVE FILES. I have used this app for years and can NO LONGER SAVE FILES DUE TO GREED. Good riddance

Developer reply

Jacob, if you had paid to upgrade before, you wouldn't need a subscription to continue saving as many files. I grandfathered all existing paid users to the lifetime plan. But if you were a free user, then you should have had a limit of number of texts you can save (up to 10 I think), and if you were going past that limit then that was a bug.

This is an excellent distraction-free writing and reading app. The design philosophy is great and simple ... for text. The customization is limited but yet very sufficient. It fits very well on both OLED screen and e-Ink screen.

Great and very useful app. It opens fast and that's a vital point for creating quick notes to view and edit later at more convenient time. The ability to have multiple stashes even in free version is great. Gestures to stash current note and pick up old stashes to edit or view are fascinating. The bottom right floating menu button is also nice though that is shown only when keyboard is closed. Sophisticated cursor movement buttons and no ads shown to me in free version are other plus points.

I use it as a widget to take notes. it works great for the 1 page of notes that I take. when I found an use, the developer had the issue fixed in under 30 minutes, he was quick to respond, I'm surei took more time to repaint then they did, I was impressed. I doubt any developer could always respond so quickly, it was impressive.

Developer reply

Thanks again for reaching out Curtis and I’m glad I could assist. Thanks for your support and review!

The Best note taking app I've used. Simple, reliable, with a super clean interface. Actually quite adorable! Responsive developer to feedback and support. Easily worth the upgrade. The recent update adds just enough extra functionality. In a lifetime of having to deal with bloated, finicky, and fragile tech, it's nice to come back to this elegant little app. Just lovely.

Wow, thank you Chris for the positive feelings and huge endorsement. It means a lot! It will continue to get better but not bigger ;)

Love the app overall, but the "swipe down to delete" is diabolical. I have deleted all my notes on accident three times now. A fatal flaw. Gonna have to move to a different app. --- Editing my review in the hopes that this will be made optional. Will be the perfect notes app once that happens. Thank you, dev!

Developer reply

Hmm, you can always undo to restore the text? Regardless, sorry for the pain this has caused you. Update: 2.0.3.1 is now available, containing new settings to toggle either or both pull actions. They remain on by default so you’ll need to turn them off. Hopefully this means you can continue using the app without fear. Sorry again for misstep.

a superb spur of the moment writing tool. Perfect for writing down ideas, writing a scene for your next novel, etc. 6 stars !

Developer reply

Wow thank you Nic. An absolute privilege to offer you a surface for your writing inspiration. That means a lot. Hope the recent updates are helping you find new and better uses for the app. I know you have been a user for a while, so feel free to share any ideas or issues you may have for me to evaluate/address in an update. This pup happy to serve

I'd been really looking forward to the Ruff 2.0 update, but the new UI kind of killed that excitement for me. It looks way less appealing than the original. Before, it was clean and simple, now it just feels a bit cluttered. Honestly, if I'd known this beforehand, I wouldn't have updated and would've just stuck with the old UI. Edit: I think the font selected by the user should be used consistently throughout the app. The bold font on the status bar looks a bit off.

Developer reply

Sorry to have killed the excitement but I’m wondering whether you’ve tried to play with the customisation settings? You have way more control over what shows and when. It can look much more minimal than before. If this or a few days with it doesn’t change your mind, tell me what you want to change. On surface tbh it’s quite similar intentionally.

This update has ruined things sadly. Swiping to stash now takes ages. Automatic numbering seems to be broken. It seems more like a small text editor program now rather than the super fast jot your thoughts down note taking app that made me depend on it for years.

Developer reply

Update: hotfix on its way to speed up stashing and fix one numbered list issue (I need to more details on your exact issue though to fix your specific problem with it maybe). Although there has been plenty of new settings added, the default experience from a functionality perspective should be identical to before. Email me to talk more please.

Love the app! 100% on device and private. great to remember things for later. it would be nice if the app could have a "remind" function like say I put a note for a new idea I would like to add a remind me next week at 4 to look at this again. I would also like more font choices if possible? Also an option to export notes when switching to new phone with fresh ruff app installed would be nice to have. Great app!
