Blocks adult sites and apps on your phone, with a lock you set yourself.
Avert filters adult sites and apps on your Android phone, on the phone itself. When you arm the lock, loosening anything in the app takes as long as you decided it should.
THREE LAYERS
The content filter answers lookups for blocked domains on the phone, before a page can load. The screen watcher reads the address bar and the search field of your browser, which catches search result pages a DNS filter cannot see, and notices when a blocked app opens. Uninstall protection adds a step before Avert can be removed.
THE LOCK
Pick a wait time. From then on, every change that would loosen the filter waits that long before it applies: removing a rule, shortening the wait, releasing the lock. Adding rules and tightening anything applies at once.
A QUIET HOUR
When a moment gets hard, start a quiet hour. Every browser stays shut for an hour, and ending it early takes no wait time.
YOUR OWN RULES
Add the sites and apps you want gone, on top of a built-in list of more than four million adult hosts. An allow rule keeps a site reachable that the list would catch.
ACTIVITY WITHOUT ADDRESSES
The activity list shows when something was blocked and where it came from, as a category. The address stays hidden unless you choose to show it, and it never leaves your phone.
PRIVACY
No account and no analytics. Your rules and your activity list stay on the device. The DNS lookups the filter forwards go to Cloudflare's family resolver. Purchases use an anonymous id.
FREE AND PRO
The filter with all three layers, the lock with waits up to one day, the quiet hour and the last seven days of activity are free.
Pro makes the lock stronger: waits up to 30 days, Hard Mode, which removes the cancel button from a waiting change, and partner approval, where someone you trust has to agree before a change applies. A partner you connect sees whether your filter is on, your protected time, how many attempts were blocked today, your lock settings and the changes you ask for. A partner never sees an address, a search term or an app name. Pro also adds unlimited site and app rules, your own search words, YouTube Strict, a nightly curfew for browsers, your whole activity history and a backup file of your rules.
Ending a lock after its wait is always free.
PERMISSIONS
Avert uses Android's VpnService to filter DNS lookups locally. Only DNS goes through it: blocked names are answered on the phone, the rest are forwarded to Cloudflare's family resolver. The accessibility service reads the address bar and search field of your browser, and closes an app you blocked or a browser during your curfew. It does not record what you type and does not take screenshots. Device admin adds a step to uninstalling. You can switch any of the three off in Android's settings at any time, and Avert notes it in your activity list.
What Avert cannot do, such as safe mode or a second user profile, is listed in the app under Profile.
