Document scanner with on-device OCR and PDF tools. No ads, no watermarks.
PlainPage is a document scanner and PDF toolkit that does all its work on your device. Scan a page with the camera or import a photo or PDF, and PlainPage finds the edges, straightens the page and cleans it up. On-device OCR makes every scan searchable. There are no ads, no watermarks, no account and no scan limits. Scan in seconds A live outline shows the detected page, and PlainPage captures it automatically when you hold steady. Use batch mode for many pages in a row, drag the corners to adjust a crop, and re-crop later from the original. Clean, readable pages Ten filters, including Auto, No Shadow, B&W, Eco and Whiteboard, help remove shadows and uneven light. Erase Ink removes blue, red or green pen marks while keeping printed black text. Eleven scan modes Pick Document, ID Card, Book, Whiteboard, QR Code, To Text, To Excel, To PPT, Erase Ink, Translate and ID Photo. ID Card puts both sides of a card on one page, Book splits a two-page spread into two pages, and the QR code scanner reads barcodes too, even from a saved image. ID Photo makes passport-size photos with size presets and a new background. Text recognition and searchable PDFs PlainPage reads printed text in Latin, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Devanagari scripts without uploading it. Copy the text, or search for a word across your whole library. Exported PDFs get an invisible text layer you can select and search. To Excel finds the rows and columns of a printed table and saves an Excel (XLSX) or CSV file. Scan to PDF, Word and more Export to PDF, Word, PowerPoint, text, JPG, PNG, one long image or ZIP. Set the PDF page size, margins and page numbers, and add a password with AES-256. Then share, save or print it. PDF tools and signatures Seventeen PDF tools merge, split, compress, rotate and reorder PDFs, extract or delete pages, add a password or remove one you know, add watermarks and page numbers, and convert images to PDF or a PDF to images, text or Word. Annotate with a pen, highlighter, text and shapes, and place a saved signature on any page. Stay organized Use colored folders, tags and favorites, and move pages between documents. Deleted documents stay in the trash for 30 days by default. Private by design Your scans stay in PlainPage's private storage on your device and are never uploaded. There is no analytics or crash reporting and no sign-in. An optional app lock uses a PIN with fingerprint or face unlock where available, can lock single documents and can hide its content in recent apps. Back up your library to a ZIP file. You buy PlainPage once: no in-app purchases or subscriptions, and every feature is included. Works offline Scanning, OCR, search, exports and every PDF tool work without internet. The one exception is translation: each new language needs a one-time download of its language pack (about 30 MB), and then it works offline too. Phones and tablets On a phone, auto-capture keeps scanning quick, and you can share photos or PDFs to PlainPage from other apps. On tablets and foldables, a navigation rail and a wider layout give documents more room, in portrait or landscape. No camera? Import photos and PlainPage still finds the edges. Available in English, Spanish, Italian, German, French, Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese. Good to know OCR is made for printed text, so handwriting may not be recognized, and you choose the script in Settings. Word export contains the recognized text rather than the original layout, and Excel files come from the To Excel tool, one page at a time. Signatures are image stamps, not certified digital signatures, and ID photos should be checked against your country's rules. The app lock does not encrypt your library, and backup files are not encrypted.
