Akshar - learn Chinese, fully offline
Akshar is an offline Chinese vocabulary and handwriting trainer built around the
HSK 3.0 Level 1 word list. Every asset is bundled inside the app, so it works
the same on a plane, on the metro or with mobile data switched off. There is no
account, no sign-up and no advertising, and the app does not even request the
internet permission.
WHAT IS INSIDE
- All 497 words of the HSK 3.0 Level 1 list, each with hanzi, pinyin, an
English meaning and a Hindi meaning
- 187 example sentences, so you meet every word in context
- 900 characters with stroke-by-stroke animation you can trace along
- 1,110 practice questions, with no two alike
LEARN
Browse the vocabulary list by level and topic, open any word for its full
detail, hear it spoken through your device's Chinese voice, and watch the
stroke order drawn out one stroke at a time before you write it yourself.
PRACTICE, SEVEN WAYS
All seven modes drill the same vocabulary, so you can keep going without the
material going stale:
- Flashcards
- Word to meaning: read the hanzi, choose the English or Hindi meaning
- Hear and choose: listen to the pronunciation and pick the matching word
- Listen and type: hear a word and type it in pinyin
- Write hanzi: trace each stroke of the character on screen
- Review queue: spaced repetition that brings back exactly what you are about
to forget
- Mixed quiz: every question format shuffled together
The correct answer is placed differently every single time you practise, so you
learn the word rather than the answer key.
MOCK EXAM
A full 40-question paper with a 40-minute timer and a 60 percent pass mark,
mirroring the shape of the HSK 1 test. No answer and no feedback is shown while
the clock is running. When you submit, you get your score, a clear pass or fail
result, and a question-by-question review showing your answer against the
correct one.
THREE INTERFACE LANGUAGES
The entire interface is available in English, Hindi and Simplified Chinese, and
you can switch between them at any time from Settings. Word meanings are shown
in English and Hindi side by side.
LIGHT AND DARK
Choose light, choose dark, or follow your device setting.
DAILY REMINDER
An optional reminder at the hour you pick, so that practice becomes a habit. It
stays off until you turn it on, and you can change or cancel it at any time.
YOUR PROGRESS STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE
Study streaks, per-word mastery and daily counts are stored on your device
only. There is no server and there is no account. You can export your progress
to a backup file whenever you like, and import it back on the same device or a
new one.
WHO IT IS FOR
Beginners taking their first steps in Chinese, HSK 1 candidates who want
reliable offline drilling, and anyone who would rather study without being
watched.
