CAT BREEDS TOO Common cat breeds and coat patterns are covered, with the honest note that most domestic cats are not pedigreed at all. HOW ACCURATE IS VISUAL BREED IDENTIFICATION? Modest, and worth being honest about. Research comparing visual identification against DNA has repeatedly found mixed-breed guesses wrong most of the time, because appearance is controlled by a small number of genes. Treat any visual breed estimate as a guess with reasoning attached. For health screening, a DNA test is what actually answers the question.
