Adding custom book covers and managing book folders with subfolders
One audiobook library from your phone, NAS, cloud drive and SFTP No ads tracking
Smarter Audio Player is a modern audiobook and long-form audio player for Android. Add each of your storage sources once — a folder on this device, a NAS share, a WebDAV or SFTP/FTP server, or a Google Drive account — and the app builds one clean library from all of them. Browse, scan, and stream everything through a single player, with per-book playback speed, bookmarks, a sleep timer, and playback-position resume across every source. ONE LIBRARY, EVERY SOURCE • This device — pick any folder on internal storage, an SD card, or a USB drive via Android's Storage Access Framework. No broad-storage permission needed. • SMB / CIFS — Windows shares, UGREEN, Synology, TrueNAS, and most consumer NAS boxes. • WebDAV — Nextcloud, Synology, UGREEN Cloud, or any PROPFIND-compliant server. • SFTP — trust-on-first-use host key pinning, ssh-style, so a changed key is refused. • FTP — commons-net with random-access reads. • Google Drive — sign in with your Google account and browse your Drive folders. BUILT FOR LONG-FORM AUDIO • Bookshelf sorted by New / Started / Finished with per-book progress. • Bookmarks with optional notes; jump back to any spot in any book. • Per-book playback speed, skip-silence, volume boost, rewind-on-resume. • Sleep timer that keeps running when the screen is closed. • Chapter/track list for every book. • On-device chunk cache so seeks are instant once a region has been played. • Lock-screen and notification playback controls; Android Auto compatible. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT • No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers. • Passwords and OAuth refresh tokens are stored using Android's EncryptedSharedPreferences, encrypted with a key held in the Android Keystore. • Cleartext HTTP is permitted only because most home NAS boxes serve WebDAV over plain HTTP on the LAN — internet traffic to real hostnames still goes over HTTPS. • Google Drive access uses the drive.readonly scope only. The app has no write, share, or delete permission. FREE AND PRO The core player and local phone-files source are free forever. Network sources (SMB, WebDAV, SFTP, FTP, Google Drive), bookmarks and playback statistics unlock with a single one-off purchase — no subscription.
