Better letter shapes and stroke order. - Corrected how the guide pen moves through letters in Andika, Edu NSW, Sacramento and Playwrite US Trad, so lessons, Words and Quotes follow the way each letter is really written - Small fixes to the guided copy of words in cursive
Trace letters stroke by stroke, with real stroke order and instant feedback.
Practice penmanship, one stroke at a time. NeoShoDo teaches handwriting the way it is actually taught: one stroke at a time, in the right order, in the right direction. Pick a style and a handwriting font, watch each letter drawn for you, trace it on ruled paper, then prove it five times in a row before it counts as learned. EIGHTEEN FONTS, THREE STYLES • Print — school handwriting print and literacy faces with single-story a and g • Cursive — joined cursive, from traditional looped school cursive to flowing scripts • Calligraphy — pointed-pen copperplate and broad-nib hands, from uncial to fraktur Two fonts in every style are free: Edu NSW ACT Foundation and Andika, Sacramento and Playwrite US Trad, Pinyon Script and Uncial Antiqua. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT Every letter of every font has a pen path: the order, direction and route a pen takes through that font's own letter. The guide you trace, the animated demo and the scoring all come from it, so the app can tell the right shape drawn the wrong way from the right shape drawn properly. Capitals follow traditional cursive stroke order. Scoring looks at three things: how closely your line follows the guide, whether each stroke went in the correct direction, and whether you covered the whole stroke instead of a convincing fragment. Getting it right once can be luck. The five-in-a-row drill is the part that means you learned it. Then write real words and famous sentences on ruled paper. Each word starts with a guided copy, and in a joined font you write the whole word in one stroke, the way cursive is written. ALSO FREE • Six ruled-paper styles, a left-handed mode, light, dark and sepia themes • A full drawing kit: pen, pencil, crayon, calligraphy nibs and an eraser OPTIONAL ONE-TIME PURCHASES • Cursive fonts — Dancing Script, Cedarville Cursive, Kaushan Script and Great Vibes • Everything — every font, including the premium print and calligraphy fonts, and every script pack • Script packs — Japanese hiragana and katakana, Chinese hanzi, Korean hangul, Cyrillic and Arabic, each stroke by stroke Each pack brings its own words and sentences, not translated English ones. Choosing a script changes the whole app: the characters you practise, the word list, the quotes, and whether vertical writing is available. Japanese and Chinese sentences can be written vertically, in right-to-left columns on genko yoshi cells. Every script follows its own rules rather than Latin's. Arabic runs right to left on plain ruled paper. Japanese and Chinese trace character by character; Korean, Russian and Arabic trace whole words, because splitting Arabic per letter would destroy the joining and teach a spelling that does not exist.
