Gear ratio calculator: speed per gear, cruise RPM, final drive & tire compare
Enter your gear ratios, final drive and tire size to see the speed in every gear at any RPM, the RPM at highway speed and how far the RPM drops on each upshift. Results update as you type. Made for car and motorcycle owners thinking about a final drive or sprocket change, racing-game players tuning their gearing, and students learning how gearing works. Key Features - Speed per gear at redline and at every 1,000 RPM, in km/h or mph - Cruise RPM: the RPM in each gear at 100 km/h or 65 mph, or any speed you set - RPM after each upshift, step between gears and overall gear spread - Sawtooth chart: RPM vs speed for every gear with the drop at each shift - Compare A/B: overlay two setups (for example final drive 3.73 vs 4.10, or 17-inch vs 18-inch tires) and see the RPM difference in each gear - Tire sizes like 225/45R17, 180/55ZR17, 130/70-17 or 33x12.50R15, or a diameter in inches or mm - Speedometer error after a tire size change - Motorcycles: primary reduction × gear × rear/front sprocket teeth - 3 to 10 speeds; comma or dot decimals both work - Drive screen: hold the throttle and hear a synthesised engine climb through the gears on a tachometer and speedometer, with automatic or manual shifting and a shift light. Switch between setup A and B to hear the difference. - Save, rename and share setups as text. Works offline, no account needed. Presets 5-speed manual (compact), 6-speed manual (sports), 8-speed automatic, 10-speed automatic (truck), 6-speed motorcycle (sport) and 5-speed motorcycle (125cc class). They are generic typical values to start from. Enter your own vehicle's numbers for real results. About the Numbers Speeds follow the standard formula: speed = RPM × tire circumference ÷ overall ratio. The theoretical speed at redline ignores air drag, engine power and tire growth. The Drive screen is a simple model for the feel of the gearing, not an acceleration or performance prediction. The engine sound is synthesised; no recordings of real vehicles are used.
