dBA Meter turns your phone into a dBA meter that reads live sound level in A, C, or Z frequency weighting, the same units most noise regulations are written in. The main screen shows a real-time numeric reading and gauge, plus a scrolling timeline chart so you can see spikes as they happen, not just a single number.
Start a session and the app tracks the minimum, average, and maximum level for as long as it runs. Free sessions run up to five minutes; an optional subscription removes that cap. Give a session a label and an optional note and it is saved to your on-device noise level log, ready to revisit from the History tab.
Open any saved session to see its stats and timeline chart again, or export it. Export the full set of readings as a CSV file, handy if you are assembling a noise complaint recorder for a landlord, employer, or local authority, or export the timeline chart as a PNG image to attach to an email or report. Both are built-in sound level export options with no extra steps. Keeping a running history with export also makes the app useful as a workplace noise check, letting you log levels across a shift and show a pattern rather than one isolated reading.
Settings includes a calibration offset you can dial in against a known reference meter, plus a 1 kHz reference tone to help you set it, and both apply to every reading on the meter screen afterward. The app also explains plainly that a phone microphone uses automatic gain control and is not certified measurement hardware, so readings from this or any decibel logger on a phone are a relative estimate meant for logging and comparison, not a certified measurement.
No account or login is required for any feature, and sound level is analyzed entirely on your device, with nothing uploaded unless you choose to share an export. Signing in is optional and lets you back up your session history and settings and keep them in sync across devices; everything works the same signed out. An optional subscription removes ads and unlocks sessions longer than five minutes plus extended history retention, and it can be cancelled anytime in Google Play.
