The dial now writes the unit as km/h. The built-in demonstration drives at motorway speed, about 130 km/h, instead of climbing to 240. If you set the threshold to beep below a level, the hint and the sound switch in settings now say so instead of describing the opposite.
GPS speedometer in km/h for car or bike, with trip distance and max speed.
See how fast you are really going. GPS Speedometer shows your speed in km/h on a large car-style dial and measures the distance, time, average and top speed of every trip. Use it in a car with a phone mount, on a bike or e-scooter that has no speedometer of its own, on a boat or on foot. It is also a quick way to check the dial in your car. What you get • A large speed number on a dial. The arc is green, turns yellow past 60 km/h and red past 120. • Your highest speed stays as a mark on the scale. • A trip odometer that starts by itself after 20 seconds of movement. It shows distance and time as you go. The trip ends after three minutes standing still, and the summary then adds average and top speed. A stop at the lights does not end it. • A speed alert: type a speed in settings and the phone beeps when you go above it. • Optional clicks that come faster as you speed up, so you can follow your speed by ear. • A chart of the last 15 seconds with lines at 60, 120 and 180 km/h, plus the minimum, average and maximum. • A daylight scheme that stays readable in bright sun through the windscreen, and a night scheme for driving after dark. • Share sends a picture of the dial at your top speed along with the figures. • A home-screen widget with the last reading. • Hold freezes the number. Reset clears the chart and the minimum, average and maximum. • A table of everyday speeds on the About screen: walking 5 km/h, cycling 20, town 50, motorway 120. Speed comes from satellites, so the app works without mobile data. Without a network the first fix can take longer. The screen stays on while the app measures. Location is used only to work out your speed. The route is not stored and is not sent anywhere. There are no ads. Good to know Speed is computed from GPS and lags a car's own speedometer by a second or two. In a tunnel or between buildings there is no signal and the number freezes. A car speedometer usually reads high, so a disagreement is normal rather than a fault. Indoors there is no signal either. Speed is shown in km/h only. The trip odometer and the speed alert work only while the app is open on screen. The app does not run in the background and keeps no history of past trips. On silent or vibrate the alert makes no sound. Set everything up before you drive and keep the phone in a mount. The app sends anonymous usage statistics; you can turn this off in settings.
