Japanese zen garden watch face: live gears, maple shadows, date window
WabiFace Karesansui III brings a raked zen garden to your Wear OS smartwatch. 🪨 KARESANSUI, THE DRY GARDEN A karesansui is a garden of stone and raked sand, built to be looked at rather than walked through. Three standing stones sit in white sand combed into long curves, and the only other thing in the garden is the shadow of a maple overhead. 🍁 LEAVES, AS SHADOWS The maple itself is out of frame. What reaches the sand is the shape of its leaves in soft grey, scattered across the garden and across the stones. ⚙️ SIX LIVE WHEELS Two openings are cut through the garden into the movement below. Six brass wheels turn behind them all day, each at its own speed, with a ruby jewel and a blued screw set in the plate. ⏱️ TWO SWITCHABLE WELLS Either opening can show its wheels or a readout of your choice, set from the Watch Face Format editor on your watch or phone. A source that reports a goal draws a ring around the value; battery does this out of the box. 📅 DATE A small gold-framed aperture at three o'clock carries the day of the month. 🎨 ACCENT COLOUR Five accents for the readouts and the date: gold, silver, amber, matcha and ice blue. 🌙 AMBIENT MODE Optimized for always-on display. The garden falls away to black and the dial's own twelve hour bars remain, with the hands. The wheels rest until you raise your wrist. 🌸 ABOUT WABIFACE WabiFace is a collection of watch faces celebrating Japanese aesthetics — wabi-sabi, mono no aware, and the dignified passage of time.
