Edit big logs and legacy-encoded files, no garbled text. Syntax colors, regex
Text Editor Pro opens big logs, old Shift_JIS or EUC-JP text and source code without garbled characters, lets you fix them, and saves them back intact. Encoding and line endings are detected and kept on save. No storage permission needed: you pick files on your device, SD card or cloud. KEY FEATURES ■ Huge files open smoothly Files over 256 KB open split into pages at line breaks, and only the current page is loaded, so even logs with tens of thousands of lines scroll and type smoothly. The page bar shows where you are (e.g. 3 / 15 pages · lines 8,428–12,635), and untouched pages are saved back byte for byte. Long files get a fast-scroll thumb. ■ Encoding detection that stops garbled text Detects 24 encodings, from UTF-8, UTF-16 and BOMs to Shift_JIS, EUC-JP, GB18030, Big5, EUC-KR, Windows-125x and KOI8-R. Wrong guess? Reopen it in the encoding you choose. Convert the save encoding, add or remove the BOM and switch line endings (LF / CRLF / CR). Tap the encoding, line ending or language in the status bar to change it. ■ Warns before writing, verifies after If characters can't be stored in the chosen encoding (like emoji in Shift_JIS) or would change shape when reopened, the app stops before writing, shows samples, and lets you save as UTF-8 or replace and save. It then reads the file back to verify it, and warns before overwriting a file with unreadable bytes. ■ Syntax highlighting for 38 languages Kotlin, Java, JavaScript, Python, C/C++, C#, Go, Rust, PHP, HTML, CSS, JSON, YAML, SQL, shell, logs and more, chosen from the extension or the #! line. Line numbers, current-line highlight, matching brackets, whitespace markers and word wrap. Only the visible area is colored, so it stays fast. ■ Find and replace Match case, whole word and regex with $1 groups, across all pages of a split file. A match counter (e.g. 3/12) steps through hits. Go to any line. ■ Coding and line tools Auto-indent, auto-closing brackets and quotes, a rearrangeable symbol row above the keyboard and hardware keyboard shortcuts. Duplicate, move or delete lines, toggle comments, change case, sort, remove duplicate or empty lines, trim trailing spaces. ■ Never lose your work Drafts are kept in the app as you type, even if it closes. Choose when to autosave. Each overwrite keeps the old version in a local history (10 per file) to restore or open in a new tab. If another app changes the file, you're told, and your edits are never silently reverted. ■ Tabs, folders and more Up to 30 tabs, recent and pinned files, and folders you can manage in the app. 9 color schemes, your own fonts, pinch to zoom, word counts, print, PDF and share. UI in 39 languages. PREMIUM: MARKDOWN EDITOR • Live preview and side-by-side split view with synced scrolling • Tap checkboxes in the preview to toggle tasks • Vertical-writing preview with ruby for Japanese text • Export to HTML and PDF, copy as HTML, pick the preview colors • Formatting buttons, list continuation, table alignment and an outline to jump between headings The preview highlights code and shows images from the same folder.
