First release. Browse the folders you add, or your whole device if you turn that on. Recent shows what changed last. Pin favourites and choose what opens first. Measure what is using your space. Read and edit text and JSON in place. Rename hundreds of files with a preview and an undo. Verify any file with SHA-256. No internet permission, no account, no advertising.
Archive, Organize, Store & Protect Files
Files is a file manager that browses, organizes and inspects everything stored on your device. It declares no internet permission at all, so nothing it reads can leave the handset. Browse only what you choose Add folders through the system folder picker and browse just those, or turn on all-files access when you want the whole device. Either way the choice stays yours, in one screen that lists every folder the app can reach and lets you take any of them back. Everything a file manager should do • Copy, move, rename, delete, compress and extract • Sort by name, size or date, in a grid or a list • Search inside a folder, or filter by images, audio, video and documents • Look inside ZIP archives without unpacking them first • A Recent screen listing what changed on your storage most recently Favourites and a home you choose Pin the folders you actually use to the top of the navigation drawer, put them in the order you want, and choose which one opens first. See what is using your space Measure any folder and get a straight answer: how large it is, what kinds of file it holds, and which files and subfolders are the large ones. Tap a folder to measure inside it. Read and edit text without leaving the app Open text, log, JSON, XML, CSV, Markdown and configuration files in place, with find in file, word wrap, adjustable text size, Save, Save as and printing. JSON gets one-tap formatting and a strict validity check that reports where the problem is. Rename hundreds of files, safely Find and replace, add text to the start or the end, or number files in order. Every change is shown as a preview first, and renaming will not start while a name is invalid, already taken, or wanted by two files at once. One tap puts every name back. Check that a file is intact Calculate a SHA-256 checksum for any file and compare it against a value you paste or a checksum file you downloaded. Made for larger screens On a tablet or an unfolded foldable, the list of places becomes a permanent pane beside the files themselves. Documents carried inside the application The privacy policy and the complete license text for every component included in the build are packaged within the application and open from its overflow menu. Neither needs a connection to read. The policy is also published at the Files privacy policy. Permissions and their purpose • All files access: browses the storage volumes on your device. Optional, never requested when the app starts, and switched off again from inside the app whenever you want. • Foreground service and wake lock: let a copy, move or delete you started finish while the app is in the background. • Hide overlay windows: hides windows drawn by other apps on top of a confirmation prompt. This app does not request internet, network state, location, contacts, camera, microphone, accounts or notifications, and it does not ask to see which other apps are installed.
