App Release
Retake tracks your rehearsal sessions with a tape-style log.
Retake gives you a dedicated, clutter-free way to log every song run‑through during band practice, choir rehearsal, or solo sessions. The whole app is designed around a vintage cassette tape deck, so adding a new rehearsal feels like jotting a label onto magnetic tape and pressing record. The Home tab acts as your dashboard, showing a large LED‑style counter of total minutes practiced this week and a short tape loop of your three most recent rehearsal splices. One tap on the glowing red Record button takes you straight to the Timer tab, where a full‑screen stopwatch and countdown timer let you stay focused without distractions. The Timer also includes a bouncing VU meter needle and a dot‑matrix orange time display that makes the experience feel authentic and inspiring. When you finish a run‑through, the Log as Rehearsal button saves the session with the song name, duration, date, and any quick notes about what you worked on. Every entry you save appears as a handwritten splice label stuck onto a scrolling magnetic tape timeline in the Rehearsals tab, giving you an immediate visual history of your practice. Long, intense sessions over sixty minutes automatically get a red leader tape accent, while shorter, calmer takes appear with a blue one, making it easy to scan your dedication at a glance. You can tap any splice to view its full details, edit the song name or minutes, or delete it if you need to correct a log. In the Songs tab, all the distinct pieces you have played are collected like tiny cassette cases on a rack, each showing total minutes accumulated and the date you last practiced it. Tapping a song reveals every related rehearsal splice, so you know exactly how much attention each piece is getting. All your rehearsal data is stored locally on your device, with no internet connection required, no account to create, and no cloud syncing—your log is completely private. The clean interface uses a dark slate background and warm amber accents that are gentle on the eyes during late‑night practice sessions. Whether you are a band member escaping complex recording software, a solo musician building a daily habit, or a choir singer tracking covered repertoire, Retake helps you see your practice time add up and keep the focus squarely on the music.
