Sorry it felt that way. The ads keep the app running, but the core is the live frequency reading: allow the microphone, play or hum a sound and the app shows its pitch in Hz with the nearest note. If the reading never appeared on your tablet, tell us what you saw after granting the mic and we'll look into it.

Thanks for the feedback, and sorry for the frustration. The age rating is set conservatively for the whole store listing - the frequency counter itself has no mature content and works the same for everyone. If anything in the app isn't working for you, let us know and we'll look into it.
never worked, didn't pick up any sounds at all

Sorry about that. The app was crashing at startup on some devices, so it never got as far as listening to anything. That is fixed in version 1.0.42, released today. Please update and try again - and if it still fails, tell me your device model and I will look into it.

You're right — the ad frequency was too high due to a bug that requested a new banner on every tab change. The fix is live now; please update. Thanks for flagging it.
This basically does not work. I have a signal generator and played a 400hz tone through my stereo. There is no selection for frequency, so I left it on Auto, and tapped Start. It's hard to get past the ads. Once I did that, it showed random frequencies from about 110hz down, as low as 32hz. The Spectrum display might have been showing the correct frequency, but it's hard to tell. Waveform did not show anything. The Stop button was mostly unresponsive. Uninstalling.

Thank you — you found a real bug. Above roughly 200 Hz the detector locked onto a sub-harmonic, so your 400 Hz tone read as 100 Hz. That's fixed and the update is live now. The excessive ads were a separate bug, also fixed in the same update. Sorry for the wasted time, and thanks for the detailed report.

Uninstalled it immediately. Displays full screen ads and fake security warnings.

We're really sorry about this. Those "security warnings" are deceptive ads served by the ad network, not something the app itself does — we've reported them and are working to block such creatives, and a recent update improves the ad experience. Thanks for the feedback, and sorry for the poor first impression.
