Step through a gallery clip one real frame at a time and measure angles with the Angle tool. Bring in a second clip, line it up with Link here and view both side by side or in Overlay. Export annotated image turns the marked frame into a PNG.
Sports video analysis: frame by frame, angles, two clips linked at one moment
Form Replay is a video analysis app for sports technique: step your own clips frame by frame, draw lines and angles on the moment that matters, and lock two clips at the same moment to compare them. ▶ MARKS THAT STAY ON THEIR FRAME • Line, Arrow, Circle, Pen, Angle and Reference tools in a column next to the video. • Every mark is an object: tap Select, then drag it, drag its handles, change its color or delete it. A deleted mark comes back with Undo. • Undo and Redo keep 100 steps. A whole drag counts as one step. • Each mark belongs to frames: This frame, From here on, or Until here. • Changes save automatically. Close the session, open it again, and every mark is on the same frame. The exported image shows the same marks. ▶ TWO CLIPS, ONE MOMENT • Add a second clip, step A and B separately to the same event (for example foot strike) and tap Link here. • From then on both step and play together, and the readout shows B's offset, for example B −0.350 s. • Nudge B one frame at a time while linked. Past either end you see B not started or B ended. • Side by side, stacked, or overlay with B at 30, 50 or 70 % opacity. Mirror B for a left/right match. • Paused frames are exact; while playing, linked playback is approximate and B is corrected every half second. ▶ FRAME BY FRAME • Each clip is indexed by its real frame timestamps, so steps follow the file, including variable frame rate. • The counter shows frame, total and clip time, for example F 128 / 912 · 4.267 s. • One frame back or forward; hold the button to repeat at 8 steps per second. • Playback speed from ×0.1 to ×1. • Frame strip: the whole clip, or a 4-second window with one tick per real frame. • Pinch to zoom up to 8× and pan with two fingers. ▶ ANGLES AND RATIOS • The Angle tool measures on the picture's real proportions. Reflex shows 360° minus the angle. • Lines and arrows show their angle to the frame's horizontal. • Draw a Reference line over something of known size: other lines on that clip show their length as a ratio, for example 1.42 × ref. ▶ SLOW-MOTION CLIPS • Clip info lists frames, median frame rate, constant or variable timing, picture size, duration and the recording rate stored in the file. • Set "recorded at" 60, 120, 240, 480 or 960 fps to also see estimated real time. ▶ EXPORT AND BACKUP • Export the frame on screen with its marks as a PNG, or one image of A and B with the offset in the caption. • Save it to Pictures or share it. • Write a backup of your sessions and marks, and restore it later. ▶ GOOD TO KNOW • Form Replay works with clips you already have: import one or two from your gallery or files. It does not film. • Clips up to 10 minutes and 2 GB are copied into the app, so it needs storage for the clip's size plus 300 MB. • Exports are images; the video itself is never changed. Share original clip shares your imported copy as it is. • Ratios only hold for things in the same plane at the same distance from the lens. No distances or speeds are calculated. • Estimated real time assumes the clip was slowed evenly; clips with varying timing do not offer it. • Backups hold sessions and marks, not the clips: re-import each clip after restoring. • Clips, marks and sessions are processed on your phone; the app uploads none of them. No sign-in. • Ads appear on the sessions screen and sometimes after you come back from an export, never while you review a clip.
