Map your trip as a moving reel: add stops and pick plane, train, ferry, car, bike, walk or a GPS track for the legs between them. Choose a Night, Paper or Mono map, inspect frames with Frame check, and keep a Story 9:16 MP4 with Save to Movies.
Travel map animation: each leg by plane, train, car, ferry, walk or bike
Make a travel map animation of your trip: add your stops, choose how you travelled each leg, and Route Reel draws the route across the map as a video you can save or share. ▶ EACH LEG ITS OWN WAY OF TRAVEL • Choose plane, car, train, ferry, walk or bike for every leg between two stops, and mix them in one reel. • The vehicle changes at each stop, so a train ride, a long walk and a flight each show the way they happened. • Plane legs follow the great-circle arc between the stops, the curved line a flight makes on a flat map. • Have a GPS track from a hike or a ride? Import a GPX, KML, KMZ or GeoJSON file and use it for a leg, so that leg is drawn along the path you recorded. ▶ MADE ON YOUR PHONE, CHECKED FRAME BY FRAME • The video is drawn and encoded on your phone. The map, place search and export work without an internet connection. • Frame check shows any frame drawn by the same renderer the export uses, so you see the real video frame before you export. • After the export, the app reads the file back and checks its size, number of frames and length. It says Saved when everything matches; otherwise the file is removed and you are told why. • H.264 MP4 at 30 frames per second: 1080 × 1920 story, 1080 × 1080 square or 1920 × 1080 wide. No watermark. • If a phone can't encode the 1080 size, the app says so and offers the 720 size instead. ▶ BUILD YOUR ROUTE • Search over 7,000 cities and towns from the built-in Natural Earth place data, or long-press the map to drop a pin. • Up to 25 stops per reel. Rename any stop, move it earlier or later, or delete it with Undo. • Add a photo card to a stop: it appears in the video when the route reaches that stop. • 100 steps of undo and redo while you edit. Your reels are saved automatically. ▶ MAKE IT YOURS • Three map themes: Night, Paper and Mono. • Route line and label sizes, lakes on or off. • Distance counter in km or mi, measured along the line as drawn. • Length from 5 to 60 seconds; the app shows the shortest length your route needs. • Add music from your own files (M4A, MP3 or AAC) and choose where the song starts. • Save to your Movies folder or share the video with the app you choose. ▶ GOOD TO KNOW • Car, train, ferry, walk and bike legs are drawn as a straight line on the map between the stops, not along roads or rails. Import a GPS track when you want the path you really took. • The live preview has approximate timing and lighter map detail; Frame check shows the exact export frame. • The map shows land and lakes and draws no lines between countries. Place names are shown as in the Natural Earth dataset, and you can rename any stop. • Music shorter than the video stops where the song ends; it is never looped. Uncompressed WAV files are not supported. • GPS track files up to 20 MB and 200,000 points; long tracks are simplified to 5,000 points. • Trips, photos and tracks are processed on your device and are not uploaded by the app. You choose where a video goes when you save or share it. • Ads appear on the trips list, when the app opens and sometimes after a finished export. There are none in the editor, the preview or during an export.
