Explore all 88 illustrated constellations with a cleaner sky view and a translucent landscape. Look around and discover more!
Find stars and constellations, explore planets and Moon phases, plan your night
Turn a glance at the night sky into a discovery. Star Map helps you identify stars and constellations, find planets and follow the Moon with an interactive sky map built around your observing place and time. EXPLORE THE SKY AROUND YOU Swipe and pinch to explore the panoramic sky. Start with a clean view of the main constellations, then add extra stars, labels and deep-sky objects from the layer menu. Cardinal references and the view direction help you find your way around. Guide Me shows how to reach a selected target within the virtual sky. GET TO KNOW THE CONSTELLATIONS Explore all 88 constellations, from Orion to Ursa Major. Discover their main stars and neighbouring regions, with original celestial illustrations for every constellation. Look through a translucent landscape to explore the sky below the horizon. Search common star names and catalogue identifiers, then open object details or centre your target on the map. FIND PLANETS AND FOLLOW THE MOON Locate Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Check calculated positions, altitude and visibility for your chosen place and time. Explore lunar phases, illumination and the lunar calendar, then compare the sky now with a simulated date. PLAN A NIGHT OF STARGAZING See twilight and astronomical darkness, browse targets with good altitude tonight and check rise, transit and set information. Use altitude charts and calculated events to plan your session. Add optional reminders for moments you want to remember. KEEP YOUR DISCOVERIES Build observation lists, save favourites and record observations with personal notes. Explore the included Messier and deep-sky catalogue to choose your next target. Share a sky map as a PNG, export your journal as CSV, or create and import a backup of your observing data. MAKE THE VIEW YOURS Choose a city, enter coordinates or use optional device location. Switch to red night mode, hide map controls for a clear view, or try the optional camera background while navigating the sky with gestures. Sky positions are calculated for the selected place and time. Actual visibility depends on your surroundings, equipment and sky conditions. The view direction describes the virtual sky, rather than the physical heading of the phone. Camera overlays show calculated positions and do not recognise objects in photographs. Open Star Map and discover what is waiting above you.
