Soft Keys lets you build your own on-screen nav bar: choose from eight soft keys, put them in any order, and place the bar exactly where you want it. Back, Home, Recents, lock screen, screenshot and more, laid out your way.
The stock navigation bar is the same for everyone. Soft Keys turns it into something you design: a row at any height, a slim vertical bar along the edge, or a single floating button.
▸ Get started
1. Launch Soft Keys and read the accessibility notice, which lists what the service does and what it never does.
2. Tap Agree. Android opens Accessibility settings; switch Soft Keys on.
3. Your bar appears right away. Open Keys and order to design the layout.
▸ Eight keys to choose from
• Back: go back one step.
• Home: jump to the home screen.
• Recents: show recently used apps.
• Notifications: pull the notification shade down.
• Quick settings: open the quick settings panel.
• Power menu: restart or power off without the side key.
• Lock screen (Android 9+): turn the screen off and lock.
• Screenshot (Android 9+): the bar hides for an instant, so your screenshots stay clean.
Mix them freely, for example Back, Screenshot and Lock, or only Home and Recents. Every key is free, and one tap resets the bar to Back, Home and Recents.
▸ Three layouts
• Horizontal bar: a row of keys you can drag up or down.
• Vertical bar: keys stacked and snapped to the left or right edge, handy in landscape or with one hand.
• Floating ball: a single round button; tap it to go back.
▸ Fine-tune the look
• Size from 75% up to 2x a standard key.
• Opacity from faint to solid.
• Lock the position, or reset it with one tap.
• Optional haptic tick on every press.
• Premium skins for the bar and the ball: Midnight, Chalk, Ember and Glass.
▸ Smart hiding for videos, games and typing
• Hides while the keyboard is on screen.
• Optional: hides when a video or game goes full screen, then returns when you exit.
• Hide for 10 seconds, hide or show from a silent notification, or use the Quick Settings tile.
▸ Reliable in the background
If the system shuts the service down, Soft Keys shows it and offers a step-by-step fix, including battery optimization settings.
▸ Accessibility API: what it does here
Soft Keys relies on Android's AccessibilityService API because it is the only way for an app to trigger system navigation. It is used for exactly two things: performing the navigation action you tap, and drawing the soft keys on top of other apps. The Accessibility API is not used to collect any data. The service has no access to screen content, cannot see what you type and never performs taps or swipes on its own. Nothing runs until you enable it, and you can disable it at any time in Android's Accessibility settings.
▸ Permissions
• Notifications (Android 13+): used for the show and hide notification only. Optional.
• Internet: ads, in-app purchases, anonymous usage counts and crash reports.
▸ Free version and Premium
All eight keys, every layout, size, opacity, auto-hide, the notification and the tile are free. The free version is supported by ads: a banner on the app's main screen and an occasional full-screen ad when you come back to it. Ads are shown only inside the app, never on your keys and never over other apps. Premium removes ads, adds long-press and double-tap actions to the floating ball, and unlocks the four extra skins. Pick monthly, yearly or lifetime (a one-time purchase). Subscriptions renew automatically, and you can cancel them anytime in Google Play.
▸ Privacy
No account, no sign-up. Your layout and settings are saved only on your phone.
