Sound Control is a volume slider panel and a pair of floating volume buttons that sit over any app. Set media, ring and other sound levels separately, switch between Sound, Vibrate and Silent, and nudge the music up or down with a tap, without reaching for the side keys.
Your phone mixes many sounds: the video you are watching, your ringtone, alarms, calls and notification pings. The side keys only change whichever one Android guesses you mean. Sound Control puts the levels side by side, so you can keep music loud while the ringtone stays soft, or quiet the phone in one move before a meeting, a lecture or a film.
How to use it
• Turn on the on-screen buttons and allow Display over other apps.
• Small + and − buttons float on the edge of the screen above every app.
• Tap them to step media volume up or down while a video or song keeps playing.
• Hold either button to open the sound panel right where you are.
• Drag the buttons wherever they suit you; the place is remembered, even after a rotation.
One panel for every sound
• A media slider for music, videos, games and podcasts.
• A ring slider for incoming calls, plus a media mute switch.
• Ringer mode chips for Sound, Vibrate and Silent.
• With Premium, three more sliders for alarm, call and notification volume, so all five levels are in one place.
• The panel is also inside the app.
Made for watching and listening
• In full-screen video or games the buttons hide by themselves and return when you exit, so the picture stays clear.
• When the keyboard opens, they step aside too. Both options can be switched off.
• Choose whether Android shows its own volume bar on each tap, or keep the screen clean.
• An optional mute button sits next to + and − for instant silence.
Quick controls everywhere
• Notification controls with −, + and a Show/Hide switch.
• A Quick Settings tile to turn the floating buttons on or off from any screen.
• A home-screen widget that raises or lowers media volume.
• The buttons can start again on their own after a reboot.
Look and feel
• Adjust button size and opacity until they blend in.
• A vertical or horizontal layout.
• A light vibration on each tap, which you can turn off.
• Premium adds six extra colors, including a see-through Glass finish, for the buttons and the widget.
Everyday moments
• Lowering a loud video without pausing it.
• Turning the ringtone down while the music stays up.
• Switching to Vibrate before class or a meeting.
• Changing volume when the side keys are awkward to press or not working.
Free and Premium
Sound Control is free to use, with ads. The optional Premium removes ads, unlocks the alarm, call and notification sliders, and adds the extra colors. It comes as a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, which you can do anytime in Google Play.
What the permissions are for
• Display over other apps: draws the floating buttons above other apps.
• Notifications (Android 13 and up): shows the control notification. Saying no does not stop the buttons.
• Do Not Disturb access: requested only when you select Silent, because Android handles Silent through Do Not Disturb. Sound and Vibrate do not need it.
• Run at startup: restarts the buttons after a reboot, if you leave it on.
• Vibrate: short feedback on each tap, optional.
• Internet: ads, Google Play purchases, and anonymous crash reports and usage statistics.
Your privacy
No accessibility service, no account, and nothing on your screen is read. Your settings stay on the device.
Limits
• The app adjusts the same system levels as the side keys and cannot push the speaker beyond them.
• Android keeps floating buttons off some system screens, such as permission dialogs.
• Some phones stop background apps to save battery; the app shows you how to keep the buttons on.
