Freeze screen touch while you watch, cook or work out. The video keeps playing.
Touch Freeze pauses your touchscreen, not your video. Freeze touch with one tap and whatever is playing carries on, while stray taps from a sleeve, a blanket, a wet finger or a curious friend are simply ignored. When you are ready, a 2-second hold brings the screen back.
It suits anything you watch rather than touch: a film in bed, a recipe video beside the stove, a workout on the floor, a lecture on the train, or a photo you pass across the table.
Freeze in three moves
1. Give Touch Freeze permission to display over other apps, so it can lay a clear sheet over the screen.
2. Tap Lock. A start delay of 3, 5, 10 or 15 seconds, or none at all, leaves time to open the app and press play.
3. To thaw, press and hold the small lock button for 2 seconds. Brief touches never unlock it.
Made for watching
• The display is kept awake during a freeze, so it does not dim in the middle of a scene.
• The lock button fades after a few seconds and can sit in any of the four corners, away from subtitles.
• Switch on a short vibration to feel when the freeze ends.
• Light and dark themes for daytime and late-night viewing.
Everyday situations
• Cooking: keep a recipe video running while floury or wet hands brush the glass.
• Workouts: prop the phone on the floor and follow along without a towel pausing the session.
• Bed and sofa: watch a series without a pillow skipping to the next episode.
• Showing photos: hand the phone over so someone can look at one picture without swiping to the next.
• Commutes: keep a talk or class playing while the phone rests in your hand.
Freeze part of the screen
Want the player controls to respond but not the list of suggestions under them? Draw zones over the parts that should ignore touch and leave the rest live. Each zone can be moved, resized and tinted, and it keeps its place on the glass when you rotate to landscape. The free version handles 2 zones, and a touch finder shows a dot for every touch so you can check what reaches the screen.
Shortcuts
• Add the Quick Settings tile to freeze and unfreeze from the notification shade.
• While frozen, a notification offers an Unlock button. You can also keep a notification with Lock buttons ready for next time.
Watch your freezes add up
The Today page shows your current streak of days with a freeze. Stats total the frozen time for the week, full screen versus zones, with a bar for each day, and a calendar highlights the days of the month you used it. Milestone badges mark moments such as your first freeze or an hour of total time. Everything is calculated locally.
What Android keeps in charge
On newer Android versions the status bar, navigation gestures and hardware buttons sit above every app layer, so they may still react during a freeze. The app explains how to pair it with Android screen pinning for a fuller lock, and a setup check helps on phones that shut down background apps to save battery. Restarting the phone always ends a freeze. Touch Freeze ignores touches; it does not repair a faulty screen.
Premium
Touch Freeze is free with ads. Premium adds up to 12 zones, several saved zone layouts, an auto-unlock timer between 5 and 120 minutes so the freeze ends on its own, an optional PIN after the 2-second hold, and no ads. Choose monthly, yearly or a one-time lifetime purchase; subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in Google Play.
Permissions and privacy
• Display over other apps lets Touch Freeze draw the transparent layer that ignores touch. The app does not read the screen or your typing.
• Notifications (Android 13 and newer) are used for the Unlock button.
• Touch Freeze works without any accessibility service.
• Zones, settings, history and your PIN, saved only as a salted hash, stay on your phone. Anonymous usage and crash reports help us fix bugs, and free-version ads come from Google AdMob.
