Video Lock blocks the touch screen while a video plays, so a stray thumb, a blanket or a bump on the bus never pauses, skips or closes what you are watching. The video keeps running and the screen can stay awake; only touches are switched off.
It is made for long viewing: a film in bed, a lecture on the train, a workout or recipe video propped on the counter, a live stream you want to leave running. Start the lock, open your video app, and stop worrying about your hands.
HOW A SESSION GOES
1. Allow Display over other apps once, so Video Lock can draw its invisible touch shield.
2. Tap Lock. The start delay gives you time to open the video app and press play.
3. Watch. When you are done, hold the small lock button for 2 seconds to get touch back.
▸ MADE FOR WATCHING
• The shield is see-through, so the picture looks just as before. The only thing on top is a lock button that fades away after a few seconds.
• Choose the corner for that button so it stays clear of subtitles and player controls.
• Keep the display on for the whole session, even when your video app would let it sleep.
• Quick taps, a resting palm and two-finger touches never end the lock. Only a steady 2-second hold does.
• An optional short vibration confirms that touch is back.
▸ LOCK ONLY PART OF THE SCREEN
Sometimes you want the controls but not the accidents. Draw zones over the progress bar, the comments area or the edge your hand rests on, and the rest of the screen still responds. Zones can be moved, resized and tinted, and they stay on the same part of the glass when you rotate to landscape. A touch finder shows a dot wherever the screen registers a touch, which helps if a worn display is tapping by itself.
▸ ONE SWIPE AWAY
• Quick Settings tile: lock or unlock without opening the app.
• A notification with an Unlock button appears while the lock is on, and an optional notification with Lock buttons can wait for the next video.
▸ SHARING THE SCREEN
The full screen lock also helps when you hand the phone to a friend to watch a clip or look at a photo: tapping and swiping simply do nothing. With Premium you can require a PIN after the hold.
▸ WHAT ANDROID KEEPS ACTIVE
The status bar, gesture navigation and the power and volume buttons sit above every app layer, so on newer Android versions they may still respond while Video Lock is on. If you need those held as well, the app walks you through Android screen pinning: pin the video app, then lock touch. Video Lock does not repair screen hardware, and restarting the phone always removes the lock.
▸ PREMIUM, IF YOU WANT IT
The free version gives you the full screen lock, 2 zones, the touch finder, the tile, notification controls and the pinning guide, with ads. Premium adds up to 12 zones and several saved zone sets, an auto-unlock timer from 5 to 120 minutes (handy if you doze off mid-film), a PIN to end the full screen lock, and no ads. It comes as a monthly or yearly subscription that renews automatically and can be cancelled anytime in Google Play, or as a one-time lifetime purchase.
▸ PERMISSIONS AND PRIVACY
• Display over other apps: draws the touch shield. Video Lock does not record, read or analyze what is on screen or what you type.
• Notifications (Android 13 and above): for the Unlock button.
• Vibration: only for the optional unlock buzz.
• Video Lock works without any accessibility service.
• Your zones, settings and PIN stay on the phone, with the PIN stored as a salted hash.
• Anonymous usage and crash statistics help us fix problems; the free version shows ads from an ad network.
• If your phone closes background apps to save battery, the setup check shows how to keep the lock alive.
Press play, lock touch, and watch to the end.
