Import video, step with Previous frame and Next frame, then Mark release and Mark arrival. Enter the distance between them to get an estimated average speed in km/h, mph or m/s, shown with a range. Players and Log organize results by player and session; Export session CSV shares them.
Estimate ball speed from video frames, check timing and keep a pitch log
Ball speed from video, with a range beside the result and capture timing you can check. Pitch Clock estimates average speed between the release and arrival frames you mark, using their timestamps and the distance you enter. ▶ SEE THE RESULT AND ITS RANGE • Read the estimated speed together with its frame-selection and distance-tolerance range. • The calculation uses decoded frame timestamps, including uneven frame spacing. The range uses neighboring frames at each marked event and your distance tolerance. • Marks too close together? The app shows “Not enough time resolution to measure” rather than a speed result. • A low-frame-rate warning suggests importing a slow-motion recording for fast balls. ▶ MARK THE FLIGHT • Import video or Record silent video. Use Previous frame and Next frame to inspect the release and arrival events. • Overlay marked frames to compare the two selected images. • Enter the measured distance between your events. Distance helpers for baseball, cricket, softball and tennis describe their physical endpoints; adjust them for your actual release and arrival. • Switch between km/h, mph and m/s. The selected unit is also used in Players and Log. ▶ CHECK SLOW-MOTION TIMING • Capture-rate metadata is read when present. Timing is shown as “from video,” “from you,” or normal video confirmed by you. • If capture metadata is missing, confirm Normal, 120, 240 or 480 fps, or enter a custom capture rate for that video. • The calculation checks frame cadence before applying a slow-motion factor. Ambiguous timing asks for a valid capture rate. ▶ KEEP A PRACTICE LOG • Add and rename players, assign measurements and compare each player’s highest speed, average and count. • Start a New session and filter Log by player or session. • Open a Saved measurement to change its marks and save the updated record. • Export session CSV with player, session, event distance, frame indices, elapsed time, speed, range and timing source. • Export backup creates a ZIP with records and retained videos. Restore backup accepts that ZIP; missing JSON parts can be added later for repair. ▶ GOOD TO KNOW • Film side-on and measure the actual event-to-event distance. The displayed range excludes incorrect endpoints, motion blur, curved paths and altered video timing. • In-app recording is silent normal video, capped at 60 seconds or 100 MiB. For fast balls, use your camera’s slow-motion mode and import the recording. • Video decoding depends on the device. Encrypted videos and scans beyond 150,000 frames are rejected. • Videos, players and measurements are saved in app storage. Exports and backups are created in the app; shared or separately saved copies remain where you put them. App export copies are pruned at startup. • The camera permission is requested for recording; the microphone is not used. Ads and usage/crash reporting are part of the app. System backups may include app data.
