Notifications that arrive after capture is turned on are grouped by hour in Timeline; Search captured notifications finds them later, and Updates to this notification shows Before and After when the text changes. On Health, Send test checks that a test notification was saved to the database.
Notification history log: check capture, search alerts and compare saved updates
Notification history helps you revisit captured alerts, check whether capture is listening and compare updates to a notification. Notice Keeper brings capture status and saved versions together, with search, app filters and a history backup. ▶ CHECK THAT CAPTURE SAVED THE TEST • The status card shows Listening, access problems, a disconnected listener or a database write failure, together with the last saved time when available. • Open Health and tap Send test. A pass means the diagnostic notification was saved in the database, rather than confirming that a notification was displayed. • The test reports permission denial, a blocked test channel, a disconnected listener, a write failure or a timeout. • Open notification access, app settings or battery settings from Health. Read guidance for background activity when capture is interrupted. ▶ COMPARE CAPTURED UPDATES • Open a notification to see Updates to this notification, with saved versions in order. • Before and After show changes to the title, text, expanded text and subtext between captured versions. • When a matching removal event is received, see its time and whether the notification was dismissed by the user, cancelled by the app, cleared with all notifications or removed for another reason. • These are changes to posted notifications, rather than a record of edits inside a conversation. ▶ FIND PAST NOTIFICATIONS • Browse the Timeline grouped by hour, search captured text and filter by app. Search also checks earlier captured versions. • Partial-word search handles Unicode text, with substring matching for Chinese, Japanese and Korean text. • Load older notifications without automatic updates replacing the pages you have opened. Use Refresh history when changes are waiting. • In Apps, see notification counts and choose which apps to exclude from future capture. Existing history remains until you delete it. ▶ KEEP AND EXPORT YOUR HISTORY • Choose Keep history for 7, 30, 90 or 365 days, or Until I delete it. See the history size in Health. • Export readable JSON or CSV, or create a SQLite history backup with captured updates, removals, preferences and deletion records. • Restore a history backup by merging records and deletions. Its retention and exclusion settings are applied; previously deleted records remain excluded. • Confirm deletion of a notification or all history, with Undo available briefly afterwards. ▶ GOOD TO KNOW • Capture starts after notification access is enabled. Earlier notifications cannot be recovered, and sensitive text may be hidden by the system. • A passed test confirms that test write. Battery restrictions and listener interruptions can still cause future notifications to be missed. Retention cleanup runs periodically and may be delayed. • The app’s own notifications, system interface notifications and ongoing media notifications are excluded by default. The diagnostic test is stored separately. • History is stored in the app database. Exports are created in the app; copies you share or save elsewhere remain where you put them. Exported files contain sensitive notification text. JSON and CSV are readable exports; restore uses a SQLite backup. • Hide screen content blocks screenshots and hides app switcher previews; it is not an app lock.
